The Windows 8 license keys are not required if you install from the Windows 8 CP Setup program. However, if you install from the installation media, the setup may ask for the Windows 8 Consumer Preview license keys. Microsoft has published a bunch of product keys for Windows 8 consumer preview at their Windows 8 website. Microsoft just released the Consumer preview of Windows 8 (Download Windows 8) to the public after the press conference at MWC 2012. If you install the Windows 8 Consumer Preview using the installer provided by Microsoft, you will not require a product key. Microsoft has designed Windows 8 as a full-featured desktop PC operating system, but it built it so that it would fit greatly on the smaller screen of tablet PCs, and the new Consumer Preview.

Finally today at Mobile World Congress (MWC 2012) in Barcelona, the software giant Microsoft released the consumer preview of Windows 8 or Windows 8 beta and is now available for download for both 32-bit and 64-bit systems.

Windows 8 Consumer Preview allows users to test drive Microsoft next-generation operating system , users can download it for free either in ISO format ( burn it to a DVD or move it to USB drive using theWindows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool) or as a setup file.

Last September at BUILD conference, Microsoft released the first build of Windows 8 for developers and called it as Windows 8 Developer Preview, which surpassed the 500,000 downloads mark within 24 hours of release, and the 3 million mark by December, so I’m sure today Microsoft servers will get slammed with heavy traffic.

There are a lot of new features to look forward to in the Consumer Preview including the new start screen, the appification of the Windows platform, deep Skydrive integration, and much much more.

Windows 8 Consumer Preview System Requirements:

If your system runs on Windows 7, then you can install Windows 8 Consumer Preview on your system.In general, you can expect Windows 8 Consumer Preview to run on a PC with the following requirements:

• 1 GHz or faster processor
• 1 GB RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
• 16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
• DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver
• 1024 x 768 minimum screen resolution

However, there are some extra requirements to take into consideration to use certain features in Windows 8. In order to use the Snap feature, you will need a PC with a 1366×768 resolution or higher. If you want to use touch, you’ll need a multitouch-capable laptop, tablet, or display. Windows 8 supports up to five simultaneous touch points, so if your hardware doesn’t, you may find typing on the onscreen keyboard and using certain controls more of a challenge.

Also you need an Internet connection to try the Windows Store, to download and install apps, and to take your settings and files with you from one Windows 8 PC to another.

Before downloading you must know the Windows 8 Consumer Preview is beta version of Windows 8, that gives a preview of what’s to come. It represents a work in progress, and some things will change before the final release. This means you’ll encounter some hiccups and bugs.

When the Windows 8 Developer’s Preview was launched, there was no product key required during the installation of the operating system. However, things soon seemed confusing when people tried the Refresh/Reset feature of Windows 8, as a Product Key prompt started showing up. In this case Microsoft provided a key to bypass this apparent glitch. Unlike the Pre-Beta version, Windows 8 Consumer Preview does not instal directly without the a product key.
